Investing in the Next Generation of Pilbara’s Workforce

As part of Finmec’s ongoing commitment to supporting our local community and fostering future talent in the automotive and mining industry sectors, we are proud to partner with Hedland Senior High School to offer work experience placements and school-based traineeships for students.

These programs provide valuable opportunities for high school students to gain hands-on experience in a real-world workshop environment while continuing their education. Throughout the year, students participate in one- to two-week placements at Finmec, where they are exposed to a range of tasks and are mentored by experienced tradespeople.

Empowering Students Through Real-World Learning Opportunities

In addition to short-term placements, Finmec currently hosts four school-based trainees—two from Year 11 and two from Year 12—who are working towards their Certificate II in Automotive. These students attend our workplace two days per week, allowing them to apply their classroom learning in a practical setting while developing their skills, work ethic, and industry knowledge.

This initiative is designed to support career development pathways for young people in the Pilbara region, helping them transition from school into the workforce with confidence and competence. It also allows Finmec to play an active role in building a skilled, locally based workforce for the future.

Our collaboration with Hedland Senior High School reflects our broader commitment to community engagement and sustainable industry growth.

We look forward to continuing our work with the local school and expanding opportunities for youth in our region.
